DISCOUNT PROGRAM |
To be eligible for
the
discount program, a property owner must be
receiving the Homestead Tax Exemption.
The discount applies to homeowners in Portage County
provided they own and live in the home. No vacant lots or rentals
are eligible for the deduction.
To apply for the discount, the applicant must show a copy of
the Homestead certification as issued by the Portage County
Auditor’s Office. Once verified, the rate reduction will be
effective on the next billing cycle, but no sooner than 15 days
after the acceptance of the application by this department.
When to File:
A qualified individual may apply for this Discount Program any time
during the year. The discount will not take effect until the next
full billing period. There is no need to reapply annually for this
discount. Once it is approved you will continue to receive it
for as long as you own and live in your home.
